PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS

With a facepiece crafted from robust and CBRN-compliant bromobutyl rubber, the CM-6M® Tactical Gas Mask protects your face, internal organs, and respiratory system against a full spectrum of toxic industrial chemicals (TIC) and chemical warfare agents (CWA), including chemical, biological, and nuclear threats such as radioactive dust, noxious gas, vaporized pollutants, and more.

Complementing this durable exterior is the respirator’s inner mask, which employs a unique hypoallergenic compound.

This formulation confers a few benefits. First, it increases the mask’s tightness whilst reducing contact with the visor, which prevents fogging. Next, it decreases carbon dioxide content in the respirator’s inner space, which–together with its favorable inhalation/exhalation breathing resistance–decreases the physiological burden for the user. This provides more comfortable and practical all-day use.

Another highlight of the mask is its speech diaphragm, which ensures at least 95% intelligibility, allowing for easy communication with other members of your party. What’s more, the CM-6M® is equipped with a six-point rubber-textile head harness, enhancing the respirator’s tight and lasting fit.

Note that the CM-6M® CBRN gas mask is produced in one size. To ensure proper functioning, the wearer’s face must be smooth, free of facial hair, sideburns, and other hindrances at the points of contact.

Though this may be something of a disappointment to our stubble-sporting customers, we have good news for those who are vision-impaired–the CM-6M® tactical gas mask is compatible with the MIRAVISION Spectacle Kit (sold separately). Featuring simple installation, this kit offers full-vision clarity to those who prefer not to wear contact lenses.

And, of course, the CM-6M® mask can be outfitted with a variety of filters. This is done by screwing to the left or right inhalation chamber. Note that the unused chamber (without filter) is sealed with an inhalation chamber plug. It is therefore necessary to ensure the plug is properly screwed and tightened.

Also bear in mind that the respirator’s inhalation chambers are ONLY compatible with Rd 40 x 1/7” thread in accordance with the EN 148-1 standard.

When selecting a suitable filter, there are a few things one should consider. First and foremost, there is the type and concentration of the anticipated toxic agent(s). Next, one must remember that the CM-6M® tactical mask, equipped with a TIC or CWA filter, is only safe for use in an environment containing at least 19.5% oxygen. (For further principles of filter selection and application, please consult the filter user guides.)

Additionally, it is crucial to note that the CM-6M® tactical gas mask can only be used in class 1 explosive environments–i.e., areas where flammable gasses or vapors exist, or could exist, in amounts that can create explosive or ignitable conditions.

And perhaps most importantly, the CM-6M® mask meets all of the requirements for class 3 of the EN 136:1998 standard. This represents the highest level of protection provided by full-face masks as specified in the standard. Class 3 masks are full-face masks made of rubber or silicone, offering a higher level of protection, durability, and resistance against extreme conditions compared to the previous two classes.

As such, the CM-6M® can be used for a variety of applications. Originally designed for use in industry, agriculture, law enforcement, professional rescue/biomedical squads, and civil defense settings, this gas mask is perfect for riot gear (as a riot control mask), EDC (everyday carry), and CBRN protection.

Fuels, solvents, lubricants and other inflammable substances, including chemicals, must not be stored with masks. Moreover, there must not be any electrical machines or appliances that produce sparks or discharges during operation (ozone creation).

Avoid deformation of the rubber parts of the facepiece and internal CBRN gas mask during storage.

    FAQs

    Have a Question?

    Ask a Question
    • What is cbrn?

CBRN stands for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear threats. Here's what each component covers: Chemical - Toxic chemicals, gases, and nerve agents Biological - All microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi Radiological - Radioactive particles dispersed by a dirty bomb Nuclear - Radioactive fallout from a nuclear device, weapon, or reactor These represent some of the most serious threats that require specialized protective equipment. Our gas masks, filters, hazmat suits, and other gear are specifically designed to protect against these CBRN contaminants.

    • Are there any agency discounts offered?

Yes, please contact our sales department for agency discounts, whether for an individual or agency wide.

    • What is the standard lead time?

1-3 business days upon payment receipt.

    • What are the differences between the CM-6M®, CM-7M®, CM-8M®, and C21?

The masks provide the same level of superior protection. The difference is form factor, whether you will be using NVG devices, lining up optical sights with your rifle, and tactical preferences.

    • Is the face shield ballistic rated by any standard such as ANSI Z871?

The visor is rated to meet the standard set by EN 168 for impact protection. We have tested this mask to a much higher level of impact resistance, however, and it performed well. This included shooting a CTS bean bag round out of a 12ga shotgun at 15ft, and the visor held up. Please note, this was done under non-scientific conditions so results may vary. You can check out this test on our Instagram page.

    • Is this gas mask CE rated, with a CE label on it?

Yes, there is a CE label on the mask, and they are CE rated.

    • How would you know if a gas mask fits your face?

You would have to perform a negative pressure test. To do this, you would put the mask on your face, take a deep breath out, cover the inhalation valve (make sure the opposite side has the 40mm cap in place), and take a deep breath. If the mask sucks tight to your face without leaking air, you know that this mask fits.

    • How long does a filter last once it's opened?

Filter use time depends on a few factors, including atmospheric conditions, contaminant type, concentration, along with your breathing rate. As a general rule of thumb, we would suggest having two filters per person per day for emergency evacuation purposes. If you'd like specific data on use time, you can look at the brochure that goes into breakthrough times along with the application.

    • Does this come with the filter or must that be bought separately?

Filters are sold separately. However, when you add filters via the dropdown on this product page (located right by the add to cart button), the price of up to 2 NBC-77 SOF filters is much lower than retail. The first at $25 off and the second at $40 off for a total of $65 discount.

    • What is the benefit of using two filters at the same time?

Two filters would lower the breathing resistance, at the expense of added weight. We suggest using one filter at a time for most applications.

    • Does the CM-6M® gas mask need two filters to function?

No, it does not. You can use one filter, or two filters at the same time. With one filter, the opposite side would be plugged.

    • Is it possible to shoot weapons when wearing your CM-6M® Tactical Gas Mask?

Considering the design of the visor on the CM-6M®, it will be more difficult to get a good cheek weld (pressing your cheek on the stock to get a sight picture). If the sight is raised, thus requiring less of a weld, it would work better with the CM-6M®. We do not recommend using magnified optics with the CM-6M® as it would be harder to get eye relief (distance from the last surface of an eyepiece within which the user's eye can obtain the full viewing angle). The CM-6M® allows effective use with pistols, shotguns, or high-rise mounted sights.

    • Can the CM-6M® be stored in its original packaging? Or does it need to be removed from the original packaging for storage; so that it does not deform the rubber?

The CM-6M® can be stored in their original packaging without any issue.

    • Do the filters come in sealed packages?

      Yes, the filters come sealed.

    • Are there (or will there at some point be) any options available for tinted outserts that can be attached over the outside of the visor on the CM-6M® mask? Thanks!

We've recently launched our own line of visor protectors designed specifically for the CM-6M® and CM-8M®, available in all Pro-Film options (click here for the link to the new PROFILM).
