About this product
Advanced Pediatric CBRN Protection Engineered for Small Lungs
The MD-2 Child Escape Respirator delivers military-grade nuclear, biological, and chemical (NBC/CBRN) protection specifically engineered for infants (2+ years), children, and small teens. Developed for Israeli civil defense requirements, this positive-pressure PAPR solves critical limitations of conventional negative-pressure gas masks for young users through active airflow technology.
Core Protection Features of MD-2 CBRN Child Escape Respirator
-
Powered Airflow System: Integrated blower delivers 45 L/min of filtered air, creating positive pressure within the hood. Reduces breathing resistance—critical for underdeveloped lungs.
-
Extended Duration Protection: Up to 15 hours runtime (4× CR123A batteries) and 240+ minutes of Mustard Gas (HD) resistance (MIL-STD-282 tested).
-
Universal Hood Design: Expandable 4-layer PVC/Nylon hood (ASTM D882 tear-resistant) fits head sizes 18–55 cm. No tight face seal required.
-
Full-Spectrum Filtration: Includes Israeli 40 mm NATO NBC filter (EN141 certified) for CWA, aerosols, particulates, and radioactive fallout.
-
Integrated Hydration: Safe-drink adapter allows fluid intake without removing the hood.
Optimized for Family Safety
-
Age-Specific Carrying: Soft-shell back carrier (ages 2–4) + belt-compatible waist carrier (ages 4+).
-
Rapid Deployment: Pre-assembled system deploys in <10 seconds for emergency scenarios.
-
Compact Storage: Folded dimensions 30 × 20 × 15 cm fit in emergency kits, car trunks, or closets.
-
Multi-Use Blower: Blower unit compatible with standard 40 mm NATO masks for adult use.

Why Active PAPR Matters for Children
Traditional negative-pressure gas masks require lung effort to draw air through filters—a challenge for children with smaller lung capacity. The MD-2’s powered blower:
-
Prevents Breathing Fatigue: Constant positive pressure reduces inhalation effort.
-
Ensures Consistent Protection: Overpressure helps prevent inward leakage.
-
Accommodates Growth: Hood design adjusts as children develop.
Trusted Origin
Manufactured in Israel to stringent civil defense specifications, reflecting real-world CBRN preparedness requirements.
For Comprehensive Protection
Note: This respirator protects respiratory pathways and eyes. For full-body CBRN protection, pair with butyl rubber gloves, boots, and a sealed HAZ-Suit™ with Chemtape® seals.
Limitations & Safe Use (Read Before Purchase)
-
Not for oxygen-deficient or immediately dangerous to life or health (IDLH) atmospheres. This is a PAPR, not an SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus).
-
Not for firefighting or high-heat/flame environments.
-
Age & fit: Intended for children 2+ years with head circumference 18–55 cm; below this range, the hood may not fit as designed.
-
Filter selection matters: Use only 40 mm NATO/EN 148-1 threaded filters rated for the expected hazards; replace filters per manufacturer guidance and after heavy exposure. Do not use expired or damaged filters.
-
Battery & runtime: Use quality CR123A batteries. Check charge/state before storage and after each test. Replace batteries after extended storage or once runtime diminishes.
-
Inspection & integrity: Do not use if hood, seams, visor, or tubing are punctured, torn, or visibly degraded.
-
User monitoring: Children should be supervised during use. If distress, dizziness, or breathing difficulty occurs, move to fresh air and evaluate immediately.
-
Training & drills: Practice donning/doffing and hydration use in a safe setting to ensure familiarity before emergencies.
-
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from UV/ozone sources and chemicals. Keep filters sealed until use.
